Job Description

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Assistant Sales Manager, the Sales Clerk is responsible for the efficient execution of sales for local market and value-added products. The role includes order taking, processing, invoicing, and general administrative support, while building and maintaining strong customer relationships to ensure client satisfaction and contribute to the division’s profitability.

Job Requirement

Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 qualification or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ sales experience, preferably within the beef industry or a related sector.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, such as Emydex or similar platforms.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and solve problems effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Knowledge of meat cuts and familiarity with abattoir and deboning plant operations will be an added advantage.

Key Deliverables/Key Perfomance Areas

Key Performance Areas

  • Process customer orders via telephone, email and proactively drive sales through customer engagement and promotion of offers.
  • Capture and manage orders in the system, verify customer account status, and coordinate with the Stock Supervisor to ensure fulfilment.
  • Ensure accuracy of pricing, quantities, delivery notes, and invoices, and distribute invoices to customers on time.
  • Communicate stock shortages in advance, agree on order adjustments, and record and escalate customer complaints.
  • Prepare and process all sales documentation, including invoices, credit notes, quotations, proforma invoices, and import documentation in line with SOPs.
  • Maintain and update customer records, contact details, and email lists, circulate price lists, generate pick slips, and provide weekly sales forecasts.
  • Perform sales administration, including switchboard handling, document filing, and submission of credit applications.
  • Drive sales growth by acquiring new business and expanding existing accounts, implement sales plans, collaborate with internal teams, monitor debtors and follow up on payments, participate in meetings, and maintain stakeholder relationships while contributing to reporting and budgeting.
