Job Description

Role Purpose

The Manager: Logistics is responsible for the planning, coordination, and oversight of logistics operations, including inventory management, transportation, and shipping. The role ensures the efficient and cost-effective movement of products while maintaining full compliance with all applicable local and international regulatory requirements governing meat exports.

Job Requirement

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration.
  • A minimum of six (6) years’ relevant experience in logistics and transportation, preferably within a Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) environment, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Demonstrated, in-depth experience within the meat industry, with a strong understanding of Namibian food export requirements and associated documentation.
  • Proven experience in negotiating with logistics service providers and effectively managing vendor relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with a working knowledge of SAGE X3.

Key Performance Areas

  • Lead and coordinate logistics activities, including inventory management, transportation, and shipping, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimise logistics processes and reduce operational costs.
  • Monitor and report on logistics performance, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable export and import protocols.
  • Plan and optimise logistics operations to maximise efficiency and capacity utilisation.
  • Manage transportation, storage, and delivery processes to ensure the timely and accurate movement of goods.
  • Oversee order management processes for both domestic and international customers.
  • Analyse freight rates and transportation costs and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure the accurate completion, control, and management of all export and import documentation.
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination with internal departments and external logistics partners.
  • Supervise and manage reporting staff to ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Provide training, coaching, and ongoing support to enhance employee productivity and capability.
  • Oversee performance management processes, including performance evaluation, disciplinary matters, and employee development.
